In this example, we will create and assign the option, "colour", with the values of "red" and "black to a T-shirt product.

The T-shirt product needs to be created before we can assign an attribute to it. For information on creating a product, please refer to our e-Commerce FAQs.

On the administration page, navigate to Catalog > Products Attributes. Under Product Options, enter "colour" in the textfield and click on the insert button. Under Option Values, select "colour" from the dropdown list. Enter "red" in the textfield and click on the insert button. Repeat the above for the "black" option value. Under Products Attributes, select the T-shirt from the first dropdown list, select "colour" from the second dropdown list and "red" from the third dropdown list. The Value Price field indicates the price difference between the original price and the price for choosing this attribute. The Prefix is a modifier that determines whether the Value Price is to be added (+) on or subtracted (-) from the original price. Leave the Value Price blank if choosing the particular attribute does not alter the price. Click on the insert button to assign the attribute to the product. Repeat the above for the "black" option value.
